How to Make Unicorn Slime at Home Step-By-Step
Time needed: 15 minutes
-
Take a bowl and add one cup of white glue in it. Dilute it with little water to make the slime super stretchy.
-
Add 1 Tbsp of baking soda to the clear glue and mix it well.
-
Pick any one liquid food colouring and add 2-3 drops to the glue. Mix it well with the help of a spatula to get the desired shade. You can always add more colour if you want a darker shade.
-
Now to get the magic started, add 1.5 Tbsp of contact lens solution and stir.
-
Add glitter to the glue mixture and keep mixing it. You will notice the mixture will start to come together in clumps. Keep mixing till all the mixture comes together and it is no longer possible to mix with a spoon.
-
This is the last step that will get your hands working. Knead & stretch the slime till it is no longer sticky. Don’t be surprised if it takes time, it usually does need at least 5 minutes of kneading.
Repeat it for the other two colours as well to get your unicorn slime ready! Now its time to have fun playing with your stretchy slime.
Tip: If your slime feels sticky after much kneading and stretching, add 1-2 drops of contact solution. I recommend taking this slowly, not rushing to add too much contact solution as it will make the slime hard and less elastic & stretch.
While we do like making homemade slime all round the year, this glitter slime is our favourite specially during the holiday season. Unicorn slime adds its charm to the holiday season and really makes it magical for kids. Strongly recommend making it during holidays to add that extra dose of magic and cheer.

How To Store Unicorn Slime
To keep the slime from drying out, keep it in a zip-lock bag after playing with it. That’s the easiest way to store your slime.
Do make sure to remove any excess air from the bag. Alternatively, you can also store slime in a regular container with an air-tight lid.

Slime Safety Precautions & Tips
1. Make sure to supervise kids while they are making slime.
2. Kids with sensitive skin should wear gloves while kneading the slime.
3. While this borax free slime recipe does not use any harsh chemicals, if there is any skin irritation the slime should be removed immediately.
4. Young children, specially toddlers & preschoolers should be under adult supervision at all times while playing with slime. It is important to remember slime is inedible and should not be licked or mouthed.
5. For kids with long hair, I strongly recommend tying their hair as slime is a real mess in hair. And still if it does get your kids’ hair, use coconut oil to smoothen it and gently comb it out.
6. To keep mess at minimum, use plastic sheets on your table top while you are making slime with kids.
